Farmwork Checklist
Like many jobs, particular clothing and equipment may be appropriate:
- shoes or boots or sandals
- waterproof boots (aka rain boots)
- lunch in a lunchbox
- sunscreen (type?)
- bug spray (type?)
- sunglasses
- hat
- waterbottle
- gloves (multiple pairs)
- rain gear (coat, pants. hat, etc.)
- energy snacks (Clif Bar)
- pants (Carhartt)
- pruners (Felco) in holster or pocket
- phone (for in-field contact and perhaps clock, weather, and camera)
- paper and pencil to record work tasks
- bandana
- wrist watch
- suspenders
- trowel
- cooler for veggies
Notes:
On any given day, having only some of the above items with you while working on the farm are necessary or useful. Nevertheless, working with the plants takes energy and usually occurs in an environment that suits the plants more than a human. For starters, our Sun is powerful.
